01 · The Journey
Dr. Ken’s path into healthcare began young. Raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, he was a competitive gymnast, martial artist, swimmer, and diver before coaching gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do while starting undergraduate studies in paramedicine. By 18, he was already working in healthcare, a path that carried him from paramedic work to mission service in Africa, to emergency medicine, and eventually to organ procurement and transplant coordination with the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois (now Gift of Hope).
A personal event redirected his career. After a car accident left his mother with a severe injury that months of conventional therapy failed to resolve, a chiropractor helped restore her health and full neck function in just six weeks. Seeing firsthand how effective chiropractic medicine could be, Dr. Ken committed to it as his life’s work.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine at the National University of Health Sciences, where he was part of the second class trained under a Problem-Based Learning curriculum modeled on Harvard Medical School’s approach. That dual grounding in medicine and chiropractic care shaped his whole-body philosophy—treating patients system by system, head to toe, rather than symptom by symptom. He later became a certified Lifestyle Medicine Provider, adding lifestyle-based care to his approach to long-term wellness.
Over the next 38 years in healthcare—26 of them as a licensed physician—Dr. Ken built and grew a series of successful practices, including Chiro-Med & Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vermont, and Advanced Physical Medicine Clinics in Illinois. Every decision was made with one goal in mind: the freedom to enjoy the fruits of his labor while still young enough to live fully.
With his children grown and building their own lives, Dr. Ken retired from traditional clinical practice at 54 and moved abroad, dedicating himself entirely to The MENd Method—the distillation of nearly four decades of clinical experience, scientific inquiry, and hands-on patient care into a practical, evidence-informed approach to helping people move, function, and live better.

Every session draws from a lifetime of clinical experience in the structure and function of the human body.
03 · Philosophy
Dr. Ken believes in a whole-body approach to health and injury prevention. Mobility is key, and exercise is medicine. When the body has difficulty doing things it used to do with ease, it is easy to chalk that up to a normal part of aging and that is where complacency takes over. When a daily activity becomes harder over time, investigating the reason for the change is essential to sustained mobility and independence.
Pain is not normal. It is the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong.
“Aging does not have to mean losing your independence. If we ignore the signs, or chalk them up to getting older, permanent impairment could be right around the corner.”

04 · Beyond the Clinic
Off the clock, Dr. Ken is a proud husband to Kolin and father to Jackson, 23, and Jenna, 21 both grown and thriving on their own paths. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys sports, traveling, good food, and making memories with friends and family.
Building The MENd Method in Porto, Portugal reflects the same entrepreneurial drive that shaped his career, hands-on with clients in the studio. He can also be found behind a laptop, editing his book “The MENd Method”, or growing the Method for a larger global reach.
